A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’ve called the Okanagan home for 10 years and West Kelowna home for the past six. With a background in Urban Planning, Tourism and Economics and a career in the wine industry, I’m bringing a mix of experience and a fresh perspective to this election. I’m creative, solution-oriented and ready to embrace the challenges facing our growing community.
WHY I'M RUNNING
I’m running because I believe West Kelowna needs to reevaluate its priorities, improve accountability and transparency, keep our community safe and think creatively about our future. As a growing tourism destination, I want to help shape a community that residents are proud to call home and visitors want to experience.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Miranda.I moved to the Okanagan 10 years ago to attend UBCO, where I studied Urban Planning, Tourism and Economics. I’ve always been interested in how communities grow, how we plan for the future and how the decisions we make today shape the places we live.Along the way, I developed a passion for wine, which eventually led me to a career in the wine industry. I’ve spent the past several years working in marketing and sales, allowing me to learn about, embrace and be part of an industry that makes the Okanagan such a unique place to live and visit.West Kelowna has been home for six years now, and it’s where I’m building a life with my fiancé and our dogs. Outside of work, you’ll probably find me on a golf course or enjoying a happy hour with friends. I love getting out and experiencing the places, businesses and activities that make West Kelowna such a great place to call home.I’m bringing a mix of experience into this election. I’m creative, solution-oriented and I don’t shy away from a challenge. I believe good ideas matter, but so does figuring out how to actually make them work.I’m a local resident who cares about where this community is headed, and I want to bring a different perspective to City Council.
WHY I'M RUNNING
I decided to run for Council in May 2025 after receiving a letter about unexpected costs tied to the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant. I was frustrated and confused about how this project, and others, could go so far over budget and why communication from the City could fall so short. I quickly realized I wasn’t alone. Other residents had the same questions, and finding clear answers wasn’t easy. That experience made me realize how important it is for residents to understand what’s happening in their own community. It’s where my platform began.I’m running because I care about where West Kelowna is headed and believe we have an opportunity to do things differently. As our community grows, we need to be thoughtful about what we take on, how we spend taxpayers’ money and what we expect to get in return. We have ongoing projects that need to be completed, rising costs to manage and important decisions ahead about infrastructure, services and how our community develops. I believe we need to reevaluate our priorities and make sure we’re focusing on what matters most to residents.Residents deserve a local government that they can have confidence in. People should be able to understand how their tax dollars are being spent, why decisions are being made and whether projects are staying on track.Public safety is another important part of that conversation. Our parks, sidewalks, public spaces and business areas should be safe, clean and welcoming for everyone. I want to look at practical, cost-effective ways to make sure our City is using its resources effectively to support safe and vibrant communities.And I believe we should be thinking creatively about the future of West Kelowna. We are a tourism destination with wineries, restaurants, recreation and incredible natural surroundings. I want to see us make better use of what we already have, including rethinking our downtown and creating a place that residents enjoy and visitors want to explore.

Reevaluate priorities and focus on completing ongoing and over-budget projects before taking on more.
Project accountability
Clear and consistent reporting on projects, including budgets, timelines, major changes and what is being done to address delays or cost increases.
Consider long-term maintenance and operating costs before approving new projects, amenities or programs.
Find efficiencies:
Review City processes and workloads to find ways to save money without simply cutting services.

Clearer communication:
Communicate City decisions, projects and spending in plain language, with clear and timely updates.
Implement an easy-to-understand, accessible City Report Card for roads, major projects, budgets and other key City services. For example, residents could use an interactive road map to see a road’s condition and risk level, along with proposed project dates, budgets, updates and a contact for questions.
Provide clear reporting when projects change, face delays or go over budget, including what changed and what is being done about it.
Easier processes:
Make everyday City services easier to navigate with online applications, clear checklists and better coordination between departments.
Look for ways to streamline processes, improve efficiency and make it easier for residents and businesses to get things done.
Open dialogue:
Give residents meaningful opportunities to learn about proposals, ask questions and provide input before important decisions are made.
Make public engagement easier to access and participate in, so residents can be part of the discussion rather than simply informed afterward.

Planning for Growth:
Make sure growth is planned alongside the infrastructure and services needed to support it, including roads, intersections, sidewalks and community amenities, while considering the long-term costs of building and maintaining them.
Prioritize infrastructure that improves safety, connectivity and access as our community grows
Public Safety:
Residents should feel safe using our parks, sidewalks, public spaces and business areas. Public drug use, drug paraphernalia and disorder should not make these spaces feel unsafe or unusable.
Look at whether our current bylaw resources are being used effectively and whether additional tools or resources are needed in areas experiencing recurring issues.
Explore approaches like Kelowna’s Downtown On Call program and other cost-effective ways to keep public spaces clean, address lower-level issues and free up bylaw resources to focus on safety and enforcement.
Make sure public spaces are maintained and usable for their intended purpose, while working with the RCMP, other levels of government and community organizations on issues that extend beyond the City's role.
Tourism:
Embrace West Kelowna’s strengths as a tourism destination and create more opportunities for visitors to stay, explore and spend money in our community.
Look at ways to make our downtown more inviting, support more quality restaurants and small businesses, and create opportunities for additional accommodation, events and experiences.
